Whales migrate to different locations throughout the year, which all depends on temperature and their preferred breeding grounds and Ponto do Ouro just so happens to be on the whales’ migratory route and is prime whale and dolphin watching spot. Whale season typically begins from August until November. The Humpback and the Southern Right Whale grace their audiences with the absolute grace and majesty of their presence. The warm waters off Mozambique and West Africa provide the Humpback whales with the environment in which to mate and to calve and it is at this point that they can be seen as they move past on their return trip to the Southern Ocean later on in the year.
Dolphin spotting continues throughout the whole year and this activity is often combined with a snorkelling expedition. Visitors are brought right to the point where the whale sharks and dolphins converse and the possibility of being able to snorkel with these magnificent, docile creatures becomes an amazing reality. Whale and dolphin watching is a pastime that is not only very therapeutic to the soul but will also create moments never to be forgotten.
Take the time to meet these amazing creatures, face to face, on the coast of Mozambique, where anything is possible.
