Xai Xai is a large, bustling coastal town in the south of Mozambique - situated on the Limpopo River 220km north of the capital, Maputo. It is the capital of the Gaza Province. English is spoken but the main languages are Portuguese and Tsonga. The beach town known as Praia do Xai Xai, has been a popular tourist attraction since Mozambican tourism was first developed and it is not difficult to see why with all its natural beauty and beautiful beaches. Praia do Xai Xai is is situated 12kms from Xai Xai town. A coral reef runs parallel to the shore and offers good snorkelling and protects the beach from strong waves.
