Praia De Barra / general information

Praia da Barra is the gem of the Mozambican coastline and one of the most superb beaches in Mozambique. Nestled in the protected bay of Inhambane, 500 kilometres north of Maputo, Praia da Barra is a treasure trove of activities and one of the best-kept secrets for divers. The 13 reefs near Inhambane offer divers the ideal place to spot mantas and explore untouched coral kingdoms that teem with exotic tropical and game fish.

Praia da Barra is the portal to relaxing days spent lounging in the sun or ambling along endless stretches of white beaches fringed by the warm, shallow, crisp waters of the Indian Ocean. The protected waters of the bay offer ideal conditions for snorkelling, with waters as shallow as 3 to 4 metres and clear visibility allowing views of the unspoiled reef.

Spend the day lounging on the soft beaches soaking up the sun, zooming in an out of the waves on a jetski or boogie boarding. As the earth tips on a giddy axis of delight for tourists and the sun sinks below the horizon, blessing the surface of the earth with the glow of amber tones, enjoy the scintillating view sipping cocktails aboard an Arab dhow.

Return to the shore to enjoy dinner in one of Inhambane's superb restaurants that dish up the freshest, most sumptuous seafood meals. Visit the local bakeries to pick up some pau – the famous local bread on offer. Whale shark and dolphin boat trips that allow you the chance to snorkel amongst these gigantic beasts of the deep is an unforgettable experience.
