Casa Oito (8)

Casa Oito is one of a few self-catering chalets at Pomene Ridge and is operated by solar energy, with a stand-by generator if required. The chalets are very attractively appointed. They are environmentally friendly, boasting natural materials: reed walled with grass-thatched roofs, cement walls for the bathrooms and kitchen and a cement floor. They have three bedrooms each with double and single beds and can accommodate six people each. Bedding, mosquito nets and bath towels are supplied.

Each chalet has an interior bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin. The kitchens are stocked with cutlery and crockery, refrigerator/freezers and two- or three-plate gas cookers. Some of the cottages have ovens as well. The dining areas feature locally made tables and chairs, and the lounges have comfortable cushion-covered couches where you can relax with a book. Some chalets have small libraries. They have braai facilities, camp chairs, lovely shady Msasa trees, bird songs and outstanding views.

The Environment

The Pomene area is one of the prettiest along the Mozambique coast. The Estuary is sparkling clean. The beaches are almost deserted. The Indian Ocean is warm and wonderful. Many mangrove creeks cradle a plethora of bird and marine life. The local folk are friendly and happy. Magical sunrises and sunsets abound.
